Topic: “Parents CAN: Collaborate, Advocate, Navigate”

Program Guest: Sandi Ames

In the “house” metaphor, first you need a foundation, or an assessment where everyone is in agreement and understands the student’s strengths and challenges. Second, you have your walls, which are the goals – academic and social/emotional. These are the areas where your student’s team will focus. Then you have the roof, which are the services. It is important to ensure that the amount and type are appropriate to meet student need. Then you determine the neighborhood where they would be best receive the services and supports defined.

To any parent struggling with a child that has an IEP, 504, or SST meeting coming up, you are not alone! We are here to help encourage you, support you and help YOU feel confident in your community.
